Because of its high profile, popularity and limited accessibility, the most popular way to enjoy live event is through International Feed provided by local broadcasters or online streams. TV viewing is decreasing, because consumers spend more time looking for premium and more personalised content online, often using their mobile devices. They like to be in charge of what and when they're watching. They explore different sources of information using wide range of devices. Going direct to consumer is easier than it has ever been.
Ostmodern was tasked to come up with a subscription based digital video product that will enable users to access all Grand Prix content from current and past seasons giving them an unique OTT proposition that they wouldn't be able to find elsewhere.

F1 TV was designed for responsive web, mobile apps Android & iOS and TV experience that was further rolled out on to consoles XBOX and PlayStation.
When we started the project, F1 brand was undergoing radical transformation. New branding introduced by W+K London was reflected not only in new logo but also affected typography and layout that from now on should include dominant curved lines, tight lockups, strong contrasts between elements and futuristic, game-like style to the product.
'Add' Button triggers multicamera view configurator where user can select what they want to watch in any moment of the race.
App enables user to watch in dual view selecting between drivers, international feed and additional cameras like PIT cam, track cam and highlights.
In duel mode, user is provided with additional data, including intervals, sector timings, number of pits or tyre compound in use and copare it between drivers.
For TV apps and consoles (Xbox and Playstation) because of the limitations in navigation and different use cases the experience has been simplified. Content within each row is selected and focus state is fixed on screen so content moves in and out of the focus state.
Archive section offers original content from 1981 season onwards. That include 180 full race replays, race highlights and 35 selected documentaries.
Content is supported with audio commentary, narration and subtitles in English, French, Spanish & German. That unique proposition encourage user to come back to the product in between races, increasing frequency of use.
